Microfinishing is a precision surface enhancement process that enables users to achieve virtually any desired surface finish, including Ra, Rz, Rt, Rpk, and bearing area specifications. It effectively removes grinding-induced defects such as noise, facets, and chatter, while also improving part geometry—enhancing flatness and roundness. In addition to functional improvements, microfinishing enhances corrosion resistance and significantly improves the aesthetic appeal of components.

With increasing demands for fuel efficiency and the need to withstand higher loads due to greater speeds and compression ratios, precise surface machining has become critical. Microfinishing meets these modern design requirements by delivering the ideal surface roughness depth for each application. As an advanced abrasive process, microfinishing offers several key advantages—most notably, the ability to achieve consistent, predictable, and repeatable surface finishes.

Neuteq's microfinishing technology can handle virtually any material—and in fact, the more challenging the material for other finishing processes, the more effective Neuteq's process becomes. Materials successfully microfinished by Neuteq include tungsten carbide, ceramics, hard coatings, chrome plating, bearing steel, forged steel, chilled iron, cast iron, soft and hard rubber, copper, aluminium, stainless steel, and many others.
